Abstract

The society, more and more, is moving towards greater appreciation of free spaces for public use and their relationship with nature. In the same way, the demand for free quality areas is growing, especially regarding public squares. Thus, it is important that these contain attributes that provide a better experience and that foster their appropriation by the community, so that these spaces serve the population in a satisfactory manner. Therefore, this article aims to present an evaluation of the squares of Regional Administrative 8 - Jardim Camburi, in the city of Vitória - ES, through the application of an evaluation tool developed in collaboration with two universities. This tool is organized into 4 categories, which are: Protection and Security; Comfort and Image; Accesses and Connections; and Sociability, Uses and Activities. This article presents the evaluation by the category "Comfort and Image", which is responsible for analyzing issues related to well-being in spaces, addressing issues regarding space and noise pollution, as well as evaluating aspects that imply the thermal comfort of the spaces of permanence. The results found demonstrate that the absence or deficiencies in the attendance of indicators related to this category can change the way the user relates to the space, as well as indicate the aspects that can improve the population's experience with the environment.
