With the need to adapt built environments to the performance standards, there have been advances in the national studies inside the field, with natural lighting having an important role in areas of prolonged permanence in residential environments. In this line of thought, this article aims to analyse the natural lighting performance of an environment constituted primarily by glass openings in a multi-floor building, located in the city of Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul. It was analyzed the environment which comprises the living room, dining room and kitchen, on three distinct floors, making it possible to evaluate the interference of the shadowing projected by the neighboring buildings. The illuminance values were obtained through computational simulation generated by the software Relux, after importing the project from the software Revit. The neighboring buildings were modeled directly in the software Relux. The simulations were performed at specified times and dates, as advocates the Performance Standard for buildings ABNT NBR 15575-1:2013, being also compared the influence of the tonality of the internal coatings and the factor of transmittance of the facade glass. The aforementioned simulations show that the vast majority of the results fit the Superior Performance level of the Performance Standard. On the other hand, it can be noted that in some environments, there is an excess of brightness which can generate visual distress due to the excessive contrast and difficulty for staying in the environment for longer periods of time. Therefore, it can be concluded that the system with dark coating and glass with low percentage of transmittance is the ideal for every floor.
