MAPEANDO PADRÕES DE OCUPAÇÃO DE SALVADOR, BA

Abstract

This work presents the activities executed by researchers at the Research Lab on Environmental Comfort and Sustainable Technologies in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape (LACAM-TEC) of the Faculty of Architecture - Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) to update the Land Use Map of the city of Salvador, Bahia. The map consists of the city surface delimitation through polygonals, which are associated to different urban land use texture. The map is an essential element on the urban climate study, through preparing a Climate Urban Map that shows analyses and recommendations, an important instrument to promote urban environmental quality. It is based on the 2002 map version counterpart, but then it employs newer digital orthophotos, dating from 2017, thus reflecting a newer state of the urban fabric reality. The update also includes the change to a modern and open computational platform, based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Simultaneously, a newer pattern classification is currently being developed, which aggregates criteria derived by the quantification of the city´s urbanistic and building attributes.
