Abstract

The concerns about energy consumption widely discussed in our current context have brought out news research fields for civil construction. Energy consumption is directly related to thermal comfort since when users do not feel thermally comfortable, they seek alternatives powered with energy to supply their needs for comfort. Several studies have used computational simulation to find design solutions that favor thermal comfort. However, there are inaccuracies observed in the user behavior data and in the building operation. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influence of user behavior and the building operation in the perception of thermal comfort users of offices with artificial climatization in the city of Ijuí/RS. The results showed us that users were in conditions of comfort between slightly cold, neutral and slightly warm and that users accepted a slightly higher average temperature than that proposed by the analytical model of ASHRAE. In addition, we have obtained indicators that a user’s position in relation to the air conditioning unit affects their sense of comfort, just like the thermal history. We observed the existence of the active behavior in the air conditioning operation since the thermal sensations reported had a relation with the user operation.
