In view of the growing urbanization of cities and the constant need for improvement and promotion of health and well-being, for which the adaptation of the built environment to the climate is of great relevance, this article proposes to reflect on the concept of a climatically healthy city to from the discussion about the current urban repertoire of cities and their convergence with the local climate. As a case study, three cities with tropical climates, with different cultural realities and sizes were selected: Petrolina (PE), Maceió (AL), Brazilian cities and Caracas (DC), Venezuelan capital. For the development of the article, a photographic survey was carried out, whose interpretation was based on a literature study. The obtained results allowed to verify the existence in the three cities of a discontinuous construction pattern, and a model of contemporary development marked by harmful practices to the climatic health, which coexist with the practices adapted to the tropical climate. It is hoped that from the fostered discussion, that the urban formats appropriate to the climate, composed of vegetation and elements integrated with the environmental nature, will be better and more intensely incorporated into the urban planning in order to guarantee healthy cities, which value the cultures and characteristics locations.
