Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the thermal behavior of green roof in the humid (hot and humid period – QU) and dry (hot and dry period – QS) seasons of a category As climate (tropical with dry summer season), according to Köppen-Geiger. For this, experimental research was carried out with test cells in the city of Arapiraca-AL, based on comparative analysis between a green roof and a system with ceramic tiles. Internal and external surface temperatures were monitored from thermographic images taken at time intervals during one day (24 h) for each period. The results showed that in the QU period the thermal response to surface heating of the green roof occurred slower and with lower intensity, suggesting the influence of higher soil moisture retention in this behavior. Finally, it was observed that the green roof presented better thermal performance concerning the roof with ceramic tiles, in both monitored periods, allowing to conclude that this system presents itself as an adequate bioclimatic strategy in tropical climate with dry summer season.
