From the appearance of the performance standard in 2008 and 2013, a transformation process began in the way of designing and producing residential buildings, throughout the Brazilian territory. Among the types of standardized performances, this study focuses on thermal performance, an important factor to ensure the well-being of the end user, considering that when designing and planning a building taking into account the climate of the region in which it is located, it makes comfortable, as well as directly reflecting on energy savings. The city of Palmas - TO is located in a region with a predominantly hot climate, and given these conditions, there is a need to carry out works that verify the validity of the thermal performance evaluation procedures described in the standard for regions with this characteristic. In view of this, this research aimed to evaluate the thermal performance of a residential building in Palmas - TO, located in the bioclimatic zone 7, in a hot and dry episode, according to criteria established by Brazilian standard of performance buildings, using the method simplified and on-site measurement. From the performance of the analysis procedures according to guidelines of the standard, it was possible to verify the compliance with the minimum performance requirements by the studied building, however, some difficulties and limitations were observed.
