ENSINO DE SIMULAÇÃO TERMOENERGÉTICA EM EDIFICAÇÕES
UM ESTUDO DE CASO COM ESTUDANTES DE ARQUITETURA

Most architects agree that building performance should be important in the university curriculum, however in most of the undergraduate architecture courses the teaching of design and building physics occurs in separated courses. The goal of this research is to analyse the design decision-making of architecture students in early design stages, with and without building performance simulations. The study proposes a teaching method with Rhinoceros and Grasshopper modeling program using Honeybee simulation tool to teach and perform simple simulations in the conceptual phase. At the same time, we compare the analog design process and with simulation results in decision making. We noticed substantial difference between the design changes and the results of the project in each case. While the manual analyses allowed more flexibility in the shape of the project, those analyses carried out with simulations remained inflexible in terms of shape. On the other hand, the bioclimatic strategies on the manual exercise did not obtain any proof of effectiveness. Also, the students did had the same choice of envelope properties for the same climate. However, the changes made based on simulation results obtained greater changes and variations in this regard.
