The water table is a hydraulic equipment used for analog visualizations of natural buildings in a simplified and didactic way. However, it is necessary to go deeper into its operation and the difference in parameters in the visualization of the air flow. Therefore, the objective of this article is to evaluate the performance of different tracers by direct injection. Three tracers were chosen according to environmental criteria. Subsequently, different of these materials were tested at a single frequency (20Hz), in order to assess the airflow pattern in relation to the specialized literature and the contrast for better visualization of the phenomenon. After these first results, the selected tracer was subjected to speed tests, using a polystyrene cube, varying it keeping and maintaining the same frequency. Finally, using the selected tracer and concentration, visualization tests were performed at different frequencies without changing the concentration. The results showing adequate performance of the three tracers, in relation to the visualization of the phenomenon; “optimal” performance at a concentration of 200ml is presented. and it is observed that, the increase in the concentration of the tracer, as well as the increase in the frequency, cause more unstable flow patterns with greater formations of vortices and internal recirculation, which can make it difficult to read the phenomenon.
