Abstract

An adequate thermal environment is important for the operation of museums, ensuring both the comfort of the visitors and staff, in addition to the preservation of the artifacts that make up the collection. In the case of the Paulista Museum - USP in order to  evaluate current conditions, data on air temperature, globe temperature, relative humidity and/or air speed were collected in temporary properties that house the storages facilities, from July 18 to August 14, 2023 (coldest) and from December 18, 2023 to January 14, 2024 (warmest). The results indicate a positive trend towards the adequacy of spaces to house people and the collection, except for exceptions that require proactive measures to minimize high relative humidity that may compromise the preservation of the items in the collection, especially paper and textiles.
