50 years of teaching environmental comfort at CAU UFRN

Abstract

The Architecture and Urbanism Course – CAU, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN, in the year 2024, marked 50 years of its implementation. Over the years, it has undergone reformulations in its curricular structure, which demonstrate important developments, mainly in the excellent evaluations, being nominated as the best course in Brazil, at ENADE/INEP, in 2014. A major milestone in this process was the change to the third curricular structure, implemented in 1989, when the principle of integration of knowledge areas was put into practice, after a period of two years of discussion and elaboration. This article aims to present the integrated teaching of environmental comfort, its consequences, and contributions to professional training. Currently, in the sixth curricular structure, professional training has a pedagogical environment that allows environmental comfort content to be worked on in a more comprehensive and articulated way, advancing in relation to previous curricular proposals.
