Abstract

Interoperability between BIM-BEM tools has not yet been completely achieved. Inconsistencies in geometric transformations and varied modeling techniques are common barriers in data exchanges between systems. This work aimed to evaluate the creation parameters and accuracy of geometric structures for energy analysis in Revit 2023. The study was developed in two stages: (i) carrying out exploratory tests to identify the method for creating analytical structures in Revit; (ii) evaluation of the behavior of the analytical structures for forming the gbXML file. The tests carried out allowed us to understand how geometric simplifications are carried out to create the energy model, as well as demonstrating how the two export modes interfere in this process. In the end, 82.35% of the cases had their geometry correctly exported using the “Rooms or Spaces” mode, compared to 58.82% using the “Building Elements” mode. Three of the cases tested were not resolved by any of the export modes.
