Light comfort strategies at the Epiphanio Dória Public Library in Aracaju/SE

Abstract

The Epiphanio Dória Public Library, located in Aracaju SE, is one of the oldest libraries in Brazil, playing an important role in the architectural and cultural scene in the state of Sergipe. This article aims to evaluate lighting comfort strategies considering the premises of modernist architecture. To this end, a literature review was carried out on libraries, as well as on the institution itself, followed by field visits for cadastral and photographic surveys. The data collected made it possible to analyze the impact of shading solutions and the interaction between natural and artificial lighting on lighting comfort in the institution. The results indicate that adapting solution strategies to optimize the use of lighting can improve environmental comfort and energy efficiency, contributing to improving the user experience. This study not only highlights the importance of conserving public heritage, but also proposes positive transformations through sustainable practices.
