Abstract

The location landscape composition has the ability to influence the microclimate, visual perception, thermal comfort, and emotional well-being. This study aims to investigate the interrelation between the thermal perception reported by volunteer undergraduates and their emotional state in green areas within a university campus based on environmental surveys. Microclimatic data were dynamically collected along a walking circuit with volunteers, who were given questionnaires on thermal perception and positive and negative affects related to their emotional state. The circuit covered some stopping points, one of which consisted of a remnant forest grove. The microclimatic data and the reported thermal sensations pointed to the grove as a thermal relief zone, with effects on the participants' emotional state.
