With the search for sustainable alternatives in electricity production, rising tariffs, and economic pressures, photovoltaic solar energy has proven to be a reliable technology. However, social, economic, and cultural factors can present obstacles to the implementation of this system, which is predominantly installed on rooftops, as these areas receive the most solar radiation in a building. This study compared simulations with data from photovoltaic modules installed in eight social housing units in the city of João Pessoa. Researchers analyzed the energy generated by the installed modules compared it with the results obtained in simulations using the Ladybug® application, a Grasshopper® plug-in integrated into the Rhinoceros® program. The study identified the relationship between solar orientation, roof slope, and the amount of radiation reaching the modules to optimize the system’s efficiency in electricity production.
