The need to limit the ingress of rainwater through wind-driven openings in buildings represents one of the most significant challenges in applying bioclimatic strategies that favor natural ventilation in tropical environments. This research aimed to explore a method for evaluating the performance of openings against rainwater ingress, considering the diameter of raindrops and the wind speed driving them. The methodology focused on a parallel analysis between results obtained from a scaled physical model and theoretical calculations. The results identified the angle of rainfall incidence and the amount of water entering the space through facade opening systems. The study concluded with the proposal of a method for evaluating the performance of openings against rain.
