The objective of the research was to evaluate the built environment of the São Remo community, in Butantã, next to
the Cidade Universitária. The main contribution, from the approximation with the community, is in the identification
of its characteristics and specificities, allowing a better understanding of the physical conditions of the place and the
quality of life of the residents, and, consequently, understanding the difficulties generated by the insufficiency of
infrastructures and urbanization actions. With this objective and after making the necessary modifications, the
method entitled "Ergonomic Assessment of the Urban Environment" was used for the evaluation of the community.
Through on-site observation, the results were translated into the survey of variables through ergonomic evaluation
sheets that qualitatively indicated aspects of the roads, sidewalks and other elements that influence and constitute
the urban space.
