Gerontological Adaptability: Reflections and Possibilities for the Design of Urban Spaces

The field of studies of person-environment relations investigates the interactions between the built environment and human behavior, aiming to understand how these factors influence the experience of life, especially, in the context of aging. This work propose to explore the concept of gerontological adaptability in the design of public spaces, highlighting the importance of creating enviroments that promote the well-being o folder people. For this, the methodology adopted consists of literature review, bringing together materials published in the áreas of architecture, ergonomics and enviromental gerentology. The analysis of the references found allowed us to identify importante milestones and relevant notes on how public Spaces can be deigned to meet the need of the elderly.
