Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the issues of natural lighting by addressing aspects related to integrative lighting in a Long-Term Care Institution for the Elderly. As a methodology, a field investigation was carried out involving the following steps: analysis of two rooms in two positions of facades; measurements made with a spectrophotometer of natural lighting conditions; simulations with Climate Studio software for analysis of dynamic metrics according to LM-83-12 (sDA, ASE, DGP, Illuminances); simulations with the ALFA software for prediction of equivalent melanopic lux - EML. As a result, it was verified that the institution has circadian potential through natural light, however one of the façade positions pointed out problems with glare and excess illuminance. As a contribution, this study offers possibilities for analysis to improve the quality of life in a Long-Term Care Institution for the Elderly.
