Resumo

The construction industry is known by the high accident rates, which could be associated with the inefficiency of the safety management system and the lack of mechanism to assist the identification of risks. Recent studies have provided important results concerning the application of emerging technologies, such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), to support safety monitoring on site construction. This paper aims to propose a systematic of safety monitoring and control integrating the use of UAVs to safety management system on jobsite. This study was based on a case study on residential construction project. It was conducted weekly flights for safety monitoring with visual assets collection. Based on these assets, safety requirement assessment was carried out at weekly basis using a checklist integrated to the safety management system of the construction project. The safety requirements monitored with UAV corresponded to 31% of the ones verified by the project's safety checklist. The results showed a high level of safety conformity, indicating the project's commitment to the safety rules. The main contribution of this paper is the use of the UAV into the safety monitoring process, contributing with identification of unsafe conditions and conflicts between safety and production.
