Urban green spaces have become valuable spaces in the face of ongoing climate change. These areas are strategic in combating and mitigating the effects of heat waves, as well as enhancing urban comfort. However, attention must be paid to the concept of thermal comfort, particularly regarding the objective and subjective factors that constitute it. This study aims to understand the analytical processes applied to urban green areas that encompass physical, physiological, and psychological factors as key elements in defining human comfort. To better understand the applications and limitations of these aspects, 12 scientific articles were reviewed and categorized, focusing on studies conducted in China, Spain, Hong Kong, Iceland, Poland, and South Korea, in addition to Brazilian research carried out in Belém, Cuiabá, and Gurupi. Regarding psychological effects, the use of POMS (Profile of Mood States) was predominant, while PET (Physiological Equivalent Temperature) prevailed in physiological assessments. It was found that hybrid methodologies—those combining quantitative parameters with direct engagement with respondents—produced more accurate and applicable evaluations for the study of urban space.
