CONSUMO DE ÁGUA EM UNIDADES DE EDUCAÇÃO PARA A PESSOA COM DEFICIÊNCIA

Water is a limited and essential natural resource and the sustainable management of water resources requires estimates of water consumption. The objective of this research work is to determine per capita and per area water consumption indicators in units of Associação de Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais (APAE) in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Two units were selected for data analysis and determination of consumption indicators. Average per capita water consumption ranged from 9.03 to 15.50 liters/student/day. The average consumption per area ranged from 1.36 to 3.76 liters/m²/day. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test did not indicate the presence of seasonality in the time series. The results showed that the water consumption of people with disabilities in school buildings is close to the results found by other authors in state and municipal schools. The results of this study may encourage the development of new research related to water consumption and people with disabilities in Brazil.
