Abstract

Bioclimatic architecture uses the climatic elements as well as regional and technological resources, providing solutions for the natural environmental conditioning. On the other hand, energy efficiency aims to afford specific service by using the lowest rates of possible energy, which, in buildings, means the use of the physical characteristics of the envelope for solar control. Both of these concepts connect in the quest for sustainability in architecture, which should also include users of the spaces. Against this backdrop, this research has as its main goal studying the bioclimatic and efficient architecture in order to evaluate the repercussions of these factors on the spatial experience of users in the built environment. This research was developed under application of forms among students of undergraduate courses of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pernambuco (IFPE) – Campus Recife, our research locus. Our empirical object of study was a hypothetical classroom building for these students. Considering the results of the analysis of the answers of students forms, we can argue that the relation between bioclimatic and efficient architecture and the material and immaterial aspects of the environmental comfort is very clear, which ultimately gives costumer greater possibilities for positive spatial experiences.
