The need for reducing energy demand for heating and cooling in buildings has guided the development and evaluation of a radiant-capacitive heating and cooling system that the authors have implemented in a climatic chamber. As part of this project, the objective of this study is to evaluate the thermal performance of two types of radiators, employed to obtain nighttime radiative cooling: a prototype radiator made of aluminum profiles, and a radiator made of commercial polypropylene collectors. Both radiators have been monitored, under different climatic conditions and water flows, during hot periods in Curitiba. Thermal performance has been evaluated based on two indicators: average night-time cooling power per square meter and a cooling efficiency index. Results allow us to conclude that, for a water flow of 163 l/h and equal climatic conditions in terms of DTrw (the difference between the water temperature at the radiator inlet and the stagnation temperature), the nighttime cooling power of the commercial polypropylene radiator is on average 29% higher than the aluminum prototype, in the DTrw range between 2K and 7K.
