ANÁLISE DA EVOLUÇÃO TIPOLÓGICA DE EDIFÍCIOS COMERCIAIS CONSTRUÍDOS ENTRE 1950 A 2016 QUANTO À EFICIÊNCIA ENERGÉTICA DA ENVOLTÓRIA, EM VITÓRIA/ES.

Abstract

The energy efficiency of buildings has been widely discussed, since these are responsible for a significant portion of the consumption of electric energy produced in the country. Commercial buildings represent 17.1% of this parcel, mainly destined to expenses with lighting and air conditioning of the rooms. One of the main elements that directly influence the energy efficiency of a building is its envelope, since it establishes the thermal exchanges between the internal and external environment. It has been observed that over the years the characteristics of the commercial building envelope have been changing, following an increasing tendency to increase glazed areas, which can be worrisome in warm climates, due to the greater thermal transmission by this material to the rooms. The aim of this research was to investigate whether the architectural transformation of the facades of commercial buildings between the years of 1950 and 2016 in the city of Vitória/ES progressed side by side with their energy efficiency. The methodology used was the evaluation of the energy efficiency of four representative models of different historical periods in the city, pre-established in the literature, by the prescriptive method for commercial buildings RTQ-C, of the Brazilian Program of Building Labeling - PBE-Edifica. The results showed that the typological evolution identified did not show progress in energy efficiency, due mainly to the excessive use of glass in the most current facades, generating negative results regarding energy performance.
