CONFORTO AMBIENTAL EM UMA NOVA CAPITAL MODERNISTA:
A VERTICALIZAÇÃO NA MARGEM DO LAGO DE PALMAS
Keywords:
Verticalization, Thermal Comfort, Palmas Lake, Graciosa BeachAbstract
The city of Palmas has a large urban area bordered by the waters of the Luis Eduardo Magalhaes dam. There is a recent verticalization along the shores of Palmas Lake, which can negatively affect the landscape and environmental comfort. The construction companies have been pressuring the public power to expand the building's height and the constructive capacity of the lots. This process results in the increase of shadow spots on the beach's boardwalks, blocking the prevailing winds, which will favor the creation of heat islands. The general objective of this study seeks to conjecture about the future of urban occupations on the banks of Graciosa Beach, in Palmas, Tocantins. The interests will unfold in several investigations: analyzing the relationship between the natural space and the space built on the shore; making a spatial-temporal study of land use and occupation; simulating the environmental consequences of tall buildings, through computational modeling. The methodological procedures were performed in four stages, as follows. 1) Theoretical framework on topics related to environmental quality and master plans; 2) Temporal study of urban occupations with the aid of satellite images; 3) Modeling and simulations of the shadows and the Average Radiant Temperature by the lake, using BIM technology (Building Information Modeling) and the ENVI-met software (version 4.4.5); 4) analysis of results, discussion and conclusion. Despite being a planned capital with few decades of existence, in Palmas there is little respect for the maintenance and preservation of green areas and public open spaces.
