This paper consists on to compare the thermal performance of cellular concrete and normal concrete molded in loco for natural ventilation and air conditioning in two social housing units of different design configurations, located in two cities in the state of Pará, in the bioclimatic zone 8. Computer simulations were carried out by configuring the computational model with the Euclide plugin and the calibrated model to measure the thermal performance of the two dwellings. The degrees degrees-hour of cooling (Ghr) and consumption in kWh / m².year were used as criteria for comparison between the two dwellings according to the parameters of the Technical Regulation of Quality for Residential Buildings (RTQ-R). The results showed the better thermal performance of normal concrete compared to cellular concrete, contradicting the recommendations of NBR15220 for transmittance values, however agreeing with more recent research focused on the hot and humid equatorial climate of the bioclimatic zone 8.
