The objective of the article is to determine wind behavior patterns, aiming at the application of the bioclimatic strategy natural ventilation in multifamily buildings of social interest with type H plant, in the nine capitals of Northeast Brazil. The variables are considered: speed, direction and frequency of occurrence of winds, based on data from INMET. Wind charts were generated using computational tools SOL-AR and Climate Consultant 6.0, whose results were compared. Graphic schemes were defined for the best orientations of this HIS typology. The results show that the cities of João Pessoa, São Luís and Teresina present different wind patterns between themselves and other cities; Salvador, Maceió and Natal have a similar wind pattern with 3 predominant directions ((NE, E and SE); Aracaju, Recife and Fortaleza have a similar wind pattern with two predominant (E and SE) and one secondary (NE) directions. The best orientation for HIS of the H typology tested is to arrange the reentrant faces to capture the winds for the Northeast (NE) and Southwest (SE), in João Pessoa; to the Southeast (SE) and Northwest (NE), in São Luís; North (N) and South (S), for other cities, including Teresina. It is concluded that the definition of the local wind pattern is fundamental for the correct adoption of the best orientation for HIS of the H typology.
