Abstract

The modernist architecture presented itself in Brazil with a concern to building adapted to local reality, incorporating several elements that are related with bioclimatic architecture principles and environmental comfort issues. Considering this, this article aims to describe a practice of teaching bioclimatic architecture in applied design of iconic modern architecture residences in Goiás. The method of analysis used consists of the correlation between projective recommendations indicated by methods Mahoney Method, Givoni Chart and NBR 15 220 (ABNT, 2003) and strategies employed in selected residences. Among the projects of 13 residential examples of modern architecture, the 4 residences that contain more climate elements adaptation were selected. Then, bioclimatic design recommendations of the different methods was verified. Compliance with the bioclimatic design recommendations for each method in each study object was compared from a descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results found, it was observed that none of the houses fully had all recommendations, and the most successful one covered 67% of these recommendations in a comprehensive way, and the least successful, only 33%. Even if they do not fully contemplate the project guidelines, the residences analyzed present several strategies of adaptation to the climate and contribute, in part, with solutions and strategies compatible with the city. This analysis allows to sensitize the student and designer to the dissemination of good design practices of thermal comfort, health and energy efficiency from the studies analyzed of the region., as well as bioclimatic strategies can be applied in future projects.
