The present work aims to test the hypothesis that the average ventilation coefficient has an irrelevant variation, depending on the wind speed. The method consists of a parametric analysis, which tested the effect of different combinations of direction and wind speed on a building model. The indoor air velocity data were obtained by computer simulation with ANSYS CFX tool and used to calculate average ventilation coefficients. These data showed that the average ventilation coefficient, for a specific wind direction and building geometry, can be considered invariable, in the accuracy of one tenth of a meter per second (0.0 m/s) and for wind speeds between 1 m / s 5 m/s. The ventilation coefficients proved to be effective in estimating the average indoor air speed based on wind speed and direction data. This contributes to greater efficiency in studies on the annual frequency of passive thermal comfort, in naturally ventilated buildings, based on models of adaptive comfort and computational simulation.
