Abstract

The outdoor public spaces are essential for the quality of urban life and for the well-being of your population. However, these places are increasingly neglected and designed without considering the environmental parameters that influence the perception of the thermal comfort by users. This fact affects the characteristics of use in outdoor space. For the survey of these characteristics the methodology used is the same used by the authors Barlati & Bueno Bartholomei (2011) and Shinyashiki & Bueno Bartholomei (2011), articles presented in the XI ENCAC VII ELACAC. That study aimed to monitor microclimate conditions with interviews about the sensation, perception and thermal preference of most of the users in the central pedestrian street in Presidente Prudente – SP, with ages between 18 and 24 years old, in order to raise the number of the thermal comfort, obtained through interviews, and the calculated, through indices for human thermal comfort in urban outdoor. Therefore, it was possible to analyze and compare these data, enabling to define a range of thermal comfort for this population through the ASV (Actual Sensation Vote) and also the calibration of the indices for human thermal comfort PET ((Physiological Equivalent Temperature) and UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index). The final results showed proximity between the comfort ASV and the index UTCI, mainly in colder seasons of the year. The comparatives also highlight the importance of calibrating the thermal comfort range of the indices in order to present with greater precision the amount of comfortable people in the context of the city in which this study was carried out.
