Abstract

This article shows a case study developed in the Library José de Alencar – Faculdade de Letras - UFRJ, about the conditions of natural and electric lighting, based on the principles of integrative lighting and visual comfort. The methodology involved the following steps: physical and photographic survey; measurements of illuminances; survey of existing problems; simulations performed with dialux evo 9.2 software for natural and electric lighting; application of the methodology developed by the WELL certification - Equivalent Melanopic Lux (EML), for the condition of using natural and electric light (circadian metric); critical analysis of the results. According to the measurements, together with the simulation analysis, we conclude that the conditions of the library meet the lighting standard NBR ISO/CIE 8995- visual system metric. The application of the methodology developed by the WELL certification showed that the library has melanopic potential through the use of natural and electric light.
