Abstract

Teacher training in bachelor's courses, such as architecture and urbanism, has didactic deficits in terms of techniques and the means to transmit knowledge, which are peculiar to undergraduate courses. Thus, despite dominating the concepts and theories that involve technical knowledge in the specific area, many teachers have difficulties related to the didactic part. In this sense, the objective of this work is to disseminate through an experience report the application of an active methodology that helps or inspires teachers in the architecture and urbanism course. The activity consisted of building a prototyping environment with the use of shoeboxes and a peephole, which was applied in the Environmental Comfort II discipline to work on the themes of natural and artificial lighting. The methodology was used in two classes of the fifth period of architecture and urbanism in different semesters. The configuration of the classes varied mainly by the number of students, 39 and 11, and listens to a proposal for a change in the schedule of activities, based on the experience in the first semester. The results of the activity were positive, the students showed enthusiasm and the assimilation of the content was satisfactory, the proposals of the environments were creative, as well as the mechanisms used to represent the lighting. The modification of the schedule showed that in the semester in which the methodology was proposed at the end of the period, the students demonstrated more security and mastery of the concepts to apply in the construction of the model, assimilating the content and reaching a result more interesting ending.
