Abstract

Visual contact with natural elements positively impacts mental health restoration and well-being. However, urban growth has reduced green areas, increasing human disconnection from nature. This study reviews the effects of exposure to biophilic virtual reality (VR) environments on physiological and psychological indicators. Results showed that VR biophilic immersion reduced blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol while increasing heart rate variability and relaxation. Biophilia in VR is a valuable tool for health restoration, especially where nature is limited.
