Environmental Comfort in the Library of the Faculty of Education at University of São Paulo: Performance Evaluation Results and Guidelines for Improvements

The evaluation of the physical performance of buildings enables the assessment of environmental comfort and space conservation, being essential for the qualification of built environments. This study aims to analyze the quality of environmental comfort in the Library of the Faculty of Education at the University of São Paulo, due to the lack of technical assessments applied to this type of building. The methodology was structured in three stages: a) technical inspection with a checklist for qualitative analysis; b) technical measurements of illuminance, noise level, temperature, and relative humidity for quantitative analysis; and c) analysis of the results. The findings revealed issues requiring attention, such as direct sunlight on the collection, excessive noise, and failures in the air conditioning system, along with limitations in ventilation and spatial circulation. The study provides technical support for interventions that improve the environmental quality and promote the use of university libraries.
