Abstract

The term sustainability gains space as the concern for the environment in where we live becomes essential. With the generation of less waste on the construction site, construction systems such as Steel Frame and Wood Frame fit in this context. In Brazil, there are many doubts regarding the comfort generated by these construction methods. The objective of this study is to generate a manual with values that indicate the thermal performance of these systems, comparing the results with the requirements of ABNT NBR 15575: 2013 and calculus based on ABNT NBR 15220: 2005, ending with a comparative analysis between the different constructive methods. The results of thermal transmittance showed a notable performance, moreover Steel Frame was superior of Wood Frame. However, the values that indicate the thermal capacity for external walls did not present satisfactory performance in any of the cases, and for internal walls, only four of the thirty and six walls met the requirements, two of each structure. Thus, it is suggested to insert steel or aluminum plates to increase the thermal capacity, or even increase the thickness of the materials used in the two structures.
