Abstract

This study proposes the integration of the circular economy (CE), through the BAMB project (Building as Materials Bank) and large volumes of data, also known as big data. The article integrates conceptual trends about (a) BAMB's circular tools, (b) the attributes of big data: volume, variety, speed, veracity, value and variability (6 Vs) and, (c) building stakeholders. Contributions include (1) the introduction of a theoretical diagram to improve understanding of the EC-big data relationship, and (2) a relational matrix that illustrates the complexity of data management and circular tools. The big data-BAMB-stakeholders integration guides academics and professionals to introduce data analysis into circular business strategies and models, seeking to insert circular practices and sustainability into the built environment.
