Abstract

The maintenance of building plumbing and sanitary facilities is of paramount importance considering the peculiarities of this system, the natural wear and aging of the parts. Rehabilitation and intervention demands can become a bottleneck when maintenance is not carried out regularly and efficiently. The object of study of this article is the literature review of the maintenance and pathologies of building plumbing and sanitary facilities, in order to catalog, through indexed databases, the scientific contributions related to the theme, based on pre-defined keywords. The use of the Mapping Study provided the cataloging of all the material, the classification by strands, the analysis of study trends and the existing gaps, which are opportunities for new research. It was observed that studies focused on the maintenance of systems are more numerous than those that assess the relationship between the occurrence of pathologies arising from the lack of adequate maintenance. Research on methods and techniques for maintaining sanitary systems is more explored than in hydraulic systems. Due to the characteristics of the sanitary facilities, the study of pathologies in these systems is also more prominent.
