Abstract

The productivity knowledge is essential for the estimation of the activities progress control crucial toolfor the successful management of construction projects. The article aims to show how Building Information Modeling (BIM) assists for the analysis of Unitary Ratio Production (RUP). Based on the company productivity database, besides BIM implementation process, an action-research project was started to evaluate the labor productivity follow-up with the help of a work-progress controlling software linked to BIM. With the aid of Information Technology (IT) it was possible to obtain the physical progress information straight from the model, to compare with the worked hours data registered by the organization and to visualize in the model which elements were executed in the moments that significant variation of the labor productivity occurs.. In this way it is possible to elaborate a precise planning according to reality as well as feedback the company database/information system. BIM has shown to be also useful for the construction planning and control of work.
