Parametric budgeting of special casings: a case study

Abstract

Special edifications impose operation rules to its users, associated with security procedures. To fulfil these requirements, it is customary to order castings on demand, suitable to the aimed level of security. This work presents a methodology to quantify materials and estimate the cost of on demand casings to edifications. The methodology includes the extrapolation of labour quantities based on the final weight of the iron casings and its dimensions, and the budgeting based on unit cost compositions from budgeting databases. The methodology has optimized the budgeting process in the early stages of project development, without the need for external quotation.
