The study evaluates the influence of solar control glass absorption on air-conditioned consumption for a commercial building by comparing glasses with equivalent solar heat gain coefficient or solar transmitance. The evaluations were conducted through computer simulation in the EnergyPlus software for Florianópolis (SC), Brasília (DF) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The results reveled differences in consumption with air conditioning from 3% to 18%. In all cases, buildings with higher electricity consumption had glass with greater solar absorption, characterizing it as a relevant parameter for the choice of glazing.
