LEED certification is one of the most used classification systems for environmentally sustainable buildings, and has a strong potential to reduce the environmental impact on the ecosystem. This study aimed to investigate the factors that might influence the adoption of LEED certifications in Brazilian municipalities. The Poisson regression model and the Tukey test were used for the proposed analyses. The sample is composed of certified buildings in Brazil until July 2020, totaling 591 projects, distributed in 101 municipalities. The results indicate that the factors GDP, IDHM and population size have a statistical influence on the number of certifications.
