Abstract

To ensure a balance between supply and demand for drinking water, it is necessary to encourage rational use policies and actions that reduce consumption. This work aims to present a systematic review of publications that address the topic, highlighting the main aspects researched. The methodology is based on the development of a bibliographic mapping, using the database of the Portal de Periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES). The results show a great variability of alternatives to reduce water consumption, such as the use of energy-saving equipment, rainwater harvesting, water reuse, among other alternatives, however, they do not demonstrate the financial applicability of the methods.
