This work sought to present the state of the art on the application of recycled concrete aggregates as internal curing agents, through a systematic review of the literature. In general, as the replacement of natural aggregate by recycled increases, a decrease in mechanical properties, density and an increase in water absorption are observed. In addition, it was observed that the presence of the residue can lead to an increase in drying shrinkage. However, this results in decreased autogenous shrinkage, proving its application as an internal healing promoter.
