Acoustic performance of non-homogeneous slabs

Abstract

In this paper, the acoustic insulation characteristics for airborne and impact sounds of three types of slabs are presented, considering ribbed slabs of two thicknesses, beam/block slabs of two thicknesses and one solid concrete slab. Laboratory tests were carried out with ISO 10140 procedures. Results: a)hollow elements reduce airborne sound insulation and alter the spectral composition of the measured sound; b)the increase from 8 to 12cm in the height of the joist/tile slabs does not change the Rw ; c)in the ribbed slabs the increase of 10cm in the height of the beams does not influence the values of Ln,w.
