Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) can efficiently incorporate sustainability principles, while stakeholder influence can shape the construction industry, enabling the development of sustainable projects. In this context, this article aims to investigate the mediating effect of BIM adoption on sustainability in construction projects, considering the influences of stakeholders on the three dimensions of sustainability. A theoretical model is proposed and validated by applying structural equation modeling, using the SmartPLS 3.0 software. The model results show that BIM has a significant positive effect (p < 0.01) on the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability. Furthermore, stakeholder influence has a significant positive effect (p < 0.01) on BIM. This research provides empirical support for the specific mediating effect of BIM adoption and stakeholders in sustainable projects. By correlating three dimensions in BIM implementation and empirically validating these interrelationships, this study can assist researchers in evaluating conceptual models of project sustainability factors.
