Zenithal openings have been identified with good lighting capacity and greater homogeneity of light in indoor environments, mitigating light contrasts, unlike lateral openings. The objective of this research is to investigate the luminous performance of zenithal openings, lightscoops-type, in Vitória – ES, based on variations in the proportions of the environment. The methodology comprehend computer simulation in the TropLux software, with measurement of illuminance from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, for every day of the year, North and South orientations, in Dynamic Sky. Four models are investigated: one model with a lateral opening and ceiling height of 3.5 m (AL3); three models with lightscoops and varying ceiling heights of 3.5 m, 4.5 m and 5.5 m (LT3, LT4 and LT5). The parameters used were IULN, ALN and EMA. It was found that, for North and South, models with lightscoops present, within the sufficient IULN range, a higher percentage performance of up to 12.9% and 23.1%, respectively, compared to the windows model, in which the best performance is the LT3. EMA results show that, among the models with lightscoops, only the LT3 reaches a value of 500 lux in every month of the year.
