Abstract

The need to cool environments becomes increasingly urgent amid the global warming scenario. However, how this cooling is approached requires in-depth study. The Brazilian territory, for the most part, is characterized by a hot and humid climate and an effective approach to improving the thermal sensation in these places is the adoption of simple cooling strategies based on air movement, through the use of fans and the promotion of of natural ventilation. In this sense, the research aims to verify the influence of using air speed with the use of ceiling fans on energy savings in a mixed-mode operating classroom through computer simulation. Using the EnergyPlus 9.4 software in conjunction with version 0.2 of the API using the Python language. This approach allows the management of window openings in favorable conditions, in addition to controlling ventilation and defining the air conditioning set point according to user comfort. This efficient management not only results in energy savings, but also prioritizes occupant comfort.
