Abstract

The constant challenge in the construction field is to develop effective design strategies that provide thermal comfort to users with reduced energy consumption. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the thermal performance of a single-family home located in Brazilian Bioclimatic Zone 2, certified by Passive House, with the reference model pre-established by NBR 15575 and a model that complies with the standard's minimum requirements. The analysis was carried out using computer simulations with the EnergyPlus software. The results indicated the thermal quality of the Passive House certified model compared to the envelopes with the reference and minimum configurations of NBR 15575 and the relevance of meeting the parameters imposed by the standard. Given this, as professionals in charge of indoor air quality in buildings and aware of the importance of thermal performance, we encourage the search for solutions that exceed the standards established by the performance standard, aiming to improve energy efficiency and user comfort.
