Evaluation of the acoustic conditioning of classrooms at the Federal University of Santa Catarina

In classrooms, where the quality of the learning environment influences educational outcomes, the dimensions and geometry of these spaces are directly linked to acoustics. This work is part of a study on acoustic performance in classrooms at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, presenting at this stage the acoustic evaluation through the calculation of reverberation time, based on ABNT NBR 12179, DIN 18041 and computer simulation with the software I -SIMPA. Representative rooms were selected, using the student capacity as a statistical criterion. The calculated and simulated results demonstrate that none of the rooms reach satisfactory reverberation time values.
